The following organizations are assisting with the planning process:
The Overmountain Victory North Carolina State Trail Friends, Overmountain Victory Trail Association, Carolina Land and Lakes RC&D, Blue Ridge RC&D, National Park Service, and local governments and non-profits have come together to develop a plan for the Overmountain Victory National Historic and State Trail that will connect W. Kerr Scott Reservoir to Lenoir, North Carolina. The trail will utilize existing mountain bike trails on US Army Corp of Engineer lands around W. Kerr Scott Reservoir, highlight the beauty of the rural countryside bordering the Yadkin River, connect to existing greenway in Happy Valley, and will ultimately connect trail goers to commercial areas in northern Lenoir.
